Fall In 2010

I had a good time at Fall In. I went to a seminar  about different eye styles and had 2 real hands on classes. The first was Freehand Painting. Apparently I have a steady hand as the instructor said I should be teaching the class. We painted a flag, I have St. Stephen's cross and then some freehand check and a star.

Then I took Painting the 28mm face with Greg, I took the skin tone class at Historicon with him as well. We worked on a really interesting fig, Gemini and used a sightly different technique on each face. I plan on stripping this mini and doing it up really nice since it is my sign. My photography leaves much to be desired.

Finallly I went to Paint 'n Take this is a chance to grab a random mini and use the provided materials to paint it up, there are pros around if you need help with technique. I am very happy with my singing mousie :)

Not been painting much

Life has been busy and I haven't done a lot of painting recently. We moved the painting table downstairs and hopefully seeing it all the time will inspire me.

This weekend is Fall In and I will be taking 4 painting class tomorrow! I also will be looking for airbrush paint to practice with and maybe some basing gels. I want to get into water effects but I will have to take a look at the budget. Pictures will arrive Sunday or Monday.

Historicon 2010

We returned from Historicon yesterday and after some problems with hotels we had a nice con. I was able to take a few classes:

Basing 

Paper Terrain

Skin tones

and the 15mm tank

Paul participated in a DBA tournament, the Baltic Crusades and also got a Battletech game in.

Now I have some painting to do to get ready for Fall In!

While I need to improve my photography skills you can get a good idea of the finished army, the static grass looks great!

No pics today

The Parthians are completely painted and based, the bases just need flocking to be complete.  Paul used them last night with his DBA group and they were well received.

Now I have some crusaders that need my attention.  I will post pics of the finished pieces later today.

The Parthians are moving swiftly but there was a small problem with bases and we will have to wait a week or two until they are complete. We also have some crusaders waiting for paint and the Russians are being mailed out to save time.

Cold Wars 2010

We went to Cold Wars this past weekend for gaming, painting and shopping! Paul participated in the DBA Team Cup World Championship tournament. His team didn't win the tournament but they did have fun and Paul won two of his three games.

I took a couple of painting classes and have the minis, I need to take pics.  I learned about how much difference a natural bristle brush can make and did a big art supply order Sunday night.  I am getting brushes and a set of 72 Vallejo Game Color paints. I am sooo excited to get the paints and use some of these new techniques to make painting faster and look better.
